  1. Hi Ken

Congratulation for your beautiful home! I just found your blog as I'm trying to see houses with brick Orpheus and roof with Coal tile.

We are doing knockdown rebuild with Fowler and waiting for our final drawing. We also like Orpheus but we heard some so negative experiences from Home1 that we think we have to choose lighter color in that Whitsundays range such as Keswick or Brampton... Could you please share with us your experience with Orpheus: why did you choose it and are now happy with Orpheus?

As for Coal roof tile, your actual roof is exactly what you have expected? we like Luna Eclipse, Coal and Gun Metal for the roof and went to see them in the display centre but we are still confused as we just saw such brick and tile in very small wall and roof....

Very appreciate any of your experience and info regarding brick and roof tile.

    Cheers
    kiki

  2. hi sorry was late in seeing this but the downside to Whitsunday is that it is baked on colour and thus the chipped bricks... you learn to accept it.. The bricklayers did a pretty good job.. We chose Orpheus because we wanted that contrasting look with the offwhite mortar. and we prefer dark colors period as you will see our interior will be Taupe colour based for the floor covering and kitchen.. The charcoal roof tile really goes well with the brick. We love it albiet its dark ofcourse and is a negative with the hot sun..BUT the house is insulated.. with the guttering we picked monument... i had a friend who has built and ended up picking the really light colour from the whitsunday.. he was happy with it although he now regrets not going darker...

  3. i should be clear on the chipped brick statement.. because Orpheus is a dark colour when the brick is chipped it is noticeable. also your really left with only 2 of the mortar style ironed or flush like we did... avoid raked
